Fleece Lined Molters Basic Saddle

The Fleece lined basic saddle is again made from a strong 15oz canvas, and is lined is a soft fleece.They have adjustable on the wing straps and have a lockable buckle to secure them in place. These are the perfect saddle if you hen has had a lot of broken feathers, or is in moult and is in need of something soft and warm. The soft fleece linings help to protect the feathers as they grow back beautifully in place.Available in Brown or Cream and come in sizes from Small through to XXlarge.

Has your cockerel caused broken feathers and caused a lot of soreness on your hens back? Take care that he doesn’t damage her sides with his spurs. Puncture wounds can lead to infection and death, so if you have a very active cockerel, your hen will need one of these saddles to protect her.This side guard saddle will protect the hens sides from the cockerel slipping and puncturing her flanks.Made from the same 15oz Canvas, Waterproof and Rotproof. Measuring your Hen for a saddle

First measure the length, from her neckline to preen glad, [tail]

Measure width, so as in the pictures this hen would need between a 7-8″ wide saddle [ large/xl]

Step by Step instructions for fitting our saddles.

Prepare the saddle by sliding the wing strap to one side.

Take off buckle from wing strap.

Slide wing strap over right wing

Gently pull wing through strap

Make sure all wing and flight feathers are through strap

Once on it should look like this on the underside

 

Slide wing strap through to other size using surplus.

Gently pull wing through as before.

Once again make sure all her feather are through including her flight 

Make sure it is not to tight on either side, or this will cause soreness

Fasten buckle back on to wing strap

Now with new cam buckle which locks shut.

Slide buckle back under collar protector, this will ensure she can not peck it loose.

Check under the wings to make sure the strap is not twisted or digging in under her wing.

Once fitted adjust so comfortable.

Check that it does not dig under her wings, if this is the case you will need the next size down, as it is a little to broad. Now you can rest easy knowing she is fully protected! Now time to get a well earn’t cuppa!
